Little National Hotel
A thoughtfully crafted, innovative and transformative hotel rising 12 storeys above Wynyard Walk
10am–4pm

About the building
Little National Hotel Sydney opened in 2020 as a transformative project above Wynyard Station, one of the city’s busiest transport hubs. Developed by DOMA and designed by Bates Smart, the 12-storey hotel sits on a tight 800-square-metre site directly over Wynyard Walk. The compact footprint became a key element in the design and experience, with the aim of creating a hotel that offers everything that’s needed and nothing that’s not.
Placed directly on top of transport infrastructure, the building’s innovative, lightweight steel-frame structure and structural transfer enables it to span the full width of the Wynyard Walk building. Its form has been carefully shaped to sit comfortably within the existing streetscape, with the building height matching the heritage-listed Transport House next door.
The restrained, efficient design seamlessly integrates architecture and interiors. The 230 rooms are all a compact 18 square metres with identical layouts, super king beds, leather bedframes, natural woods and premium textiles. Public areas are imbued with the sense of living in a luxurious urban residence.
Communal spaces, including a rooftop lounge, library, workspace and wellness facilities, are designed as destinations in their own right. The rooftop – one of Sydney’s only CBD hotel rooftops – immerses guests in the city with close-up views of the surrounding buildings and longer views to Circular Quay and Barangaroo.
